 Hollywood Story Has International Script

Nicole Kidman

1989 - Nicole Kidman’s first Hollywood film is released

The tall, fair-skinned Australian, known for her performances in such varied roles as Virginia Woolf in The Hours and Satine in Moulin Rouge, actually was born in Hawaii and lived briefly in Washington before she returned to Sydney with her parents at age 3. She dropped out of high school to pursue her acting career and landed her first film roll at 16. Kidman made her Hollywood debut in the 1989 film Dead Calm and has been a top box-office draw ever since. (© AP Images)
