Hundreds of Syrians, including children with cancer, marched February 2008 on World Day for Child Cancer, organized by the Children with Cancer Support Association.
In 2005, 7.6 million people died of cancer out of 58 million deaths worldwide. More than 70 percent of cancer deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, where resources available for cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment are limited or nonexistent, according to the World Health Organization.
