 Creating a Clean-Energy Future

A man in India pumps water

The U.S. federal government, through agencies such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), funds and provides technologies to put renewable energy to use throughout the world. Villagers in Andhra Pradesh, India, extract biofuel from pongamia seeds to fuel generators and farm equipment. The residue is used for organic fertilizer. USAID also assists in bringing wind and solar energy to remote villages that otherwise would be without electricity. (USAID)
