Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma was born in Paris to Chinese parents. His family moved to New York when he was seven years old. That year he performed for President John F. Kennedy. The winner of many Grammy Awards, he is known for playing not only classical works, but also a variety of contemporary tunes and folk music, as well as for his Silk Road Project, which seeks to bring together artists and audiences around the globe.
