20 percent of U.S. businesses are owned by members of racial or ethnic minorities

The number of minority-owned businesses, now at approximately 20 percent of all business, in the United States is growing. Black-owned firms had the highest growth rate between 1997 and 2002, but Asians, American Indian and Native Alaskan businesses also showed significant growth over the same period. (© AP Images)
