1954 – President Dwight Eisenhower Signs Food for Peace Law

U.S. support for overseas food aid is formalized in the Agricultural Trade Development and Assistance Act of 1954, also known as Food for Peace (Public Law 480). Under this program, the United States uses its abundant agricultural resources and food-processing capabilities to enhance food security in the developing world. (© USAID)
