Ellingson graduated from Cal Arts in Los Angles in 1992 and currently lives and works in San Francisco. Ellingson’s paintings explore the pervasiveness of visual imagery through appropriation and reinterpretation and the possibility of finding meaning through repetition.
Her imagery combines symbols from American pop culture with traditional textile patterns and calligraphic elements.
