On Friday, January 25, 2008, seventy students and teachers from six Bangkok-area high schools helped the U.S. Embassy commemorate 175 Years of U.S.-Thai friendship. As part of a year-long series of programs to celebrate the 175th anniversary, the students were invited to the U.S. Embassy to paint large murals depicting their vision of this special relationship. The result was six stunning paintings, each uniquely celebrating Thai-American friendship. The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok plans to display these colorful creations at various venues around Thailand throughout the year. The local schools involved were the Patumwan Demonstration School at Srinakarinwirot University, the Islamic College of Thailand, the Yannawet Wittayakom School, the Tha-It Suksa School, the Nonsi Witthaya School, and the Horwang School.
