U.S. Consul General of Krakow Anne Hall attended the annual Arabian horse show and sale in Janow Podlaski August 8-10, 2008, with Kate Snipes, Agricultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, and Piotr Rucinski, Agricultural Specialist, U.S. Department of Agriculture. This event, called the Pride of Poland, is the largest Arabian horse show and sale in the world and is hosted by the Arabian Horse farm in Janow Podlaski. This year the most well-known and most decorated Arabian mare in the world was for sale at the auction. Kwestura, who won national competitions in both Europe and the United States, was sold for a world record price for an Arabian mare of 1.125 Million Euros. Sales for all horses topped $2.2 million Euro during the two-day event. Kwestura was sired by the U.S. bred Monogramm, who is known as the “quintessential Arabian stallion of all time.” Poland has a long history of horse breeding and sales and this event serves to highlight the world-class breeding stables and high-quality genetics in Poland.
