Reception for the U.S. and Russian Davis Cup Teams at Spaso House. Guests included Head of the Federal Agency of Physical Culture and Sport Vyacheslav Fetisov, U.S. Tennis Association President Franklin Johnson, and Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev, as well as numerous senior figures in Russia's sports and political circles. Russia and the United States are among four teams (Australia and Argentina are the other two) competing in the semifinal round of the Davis Cup, the world's largest and most prestigious international tennis team competition. The match between Russia and the U.S. takes place in Moscow's Olympic Stadium September 22-24.
