For three weeks in January, seventeen physically challenged young adults are attending an intensive English Camp, organized by the “Mongolia U.S. Government Alumni Association” in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy and American Fulbright students. The purpose of the camp is to enhance the English language skills of these students to increase their opportunities for jobs and education and improve their access to information and communication.
On January 8, Ambassador Mark Minton visited the camp and observed the classes in progress. The students are extremely enthusiastic and have made remarkable progress in just a few days. The Ambassador talked with the students and encouraged them to not be embarrassed about making mistakes. A highlight of the visit was a poetry and song presentation by the students for the Ambassador.
