On July 1, 2009, Ambassador Reeker returned to Gostivar to meet with the new mayor, Rufi Osmani, and the former candidates for that position, as he had promised during the election campaign earlier this year. While in town, Ambassador Reeker received an award from the Permaculture and Peacebuilding Center for cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and that organization. The Ambassador also supported local business by visiting Gostivar’s newest café, Cafeterria Obama, a name the local owner chose to honor U.S. President Barack Obama.
