American Ambassador James B. Cunningham hosted an “Election Watch Breakfast” at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on Wednesday, November 5, 2008. In front of approximately 240 Israeli guests and Embassy officers, Ambassador Cunningham celebrated the democratic process and noted the historic nature of this election. He told the gathering that President-elect Obama has already shown that he is committed to stability, peace, and security and will be a great friend of Israel. He also paid tribute to Senator John McCain and his contributions to the United States. Guests watched the latest election returns and Senator Obama’s acceptance speech on flat screen televisions while they exchanged views and enjoyed the special election atmosphere.
