July 4, 2007. Ambassador Timken and his wife Sue hosted the annual Fourth of July reception of the U.S. Embassy at the American Academy. Among the guests were Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble and Transportation Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee. After welcoming remarks by the Ambassador, and the Presentation of the Colors by the Marine Guards, the German and the American national anthems were played. Deputy Chief of Mission John M. Koenig read President Bush's message on the occasion. Throughout the evening, musical entertainment was provided by the USAFE Band "Check Six." The celebration ended with fireworks over the Wannsee.
