On July 9, the Friends of the Amerika Haus Berlin (Freundeskreis Amerika Haus Berlin e.V.) presented a “Meterweise Amerika” book donations to seven schools in Berlin and Brandenburg in a ceremony at the Berliner Rathaus. State Secretary Barbara Kisseler (Chief, Berlin Senate Chancellery), Cultural Attache Peter Claussen and Heinz Gerd Reese, Chairman, Friends of Amerika Haus Berlin welcomed students and teachers from the following schools: Barnim Gymnasium (Lichtenberg), Haeckel Oberschule (Marzahn-Hellersdorf), Walter-Gropius-Gesamtschule (Berlin-Neukölln), Gymnasium Finow (Eberswalde), Friedich-Stoy-Gymnasium Falkenberg (Falkenberg/Elster), Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium (Premnitz), and Thomas-Müntzer-Gesamtschule (Ziesar). Since 1995 when the program was initiated, 234 meter-long collections of books on American society, culture, history and politics have been donated to schools in the region.
