Transcending Cultural Boundaries: HipHop in Frankfurt
 
U.S. Consul General Jo Ellen Powell joined Frankfurt City Treasurer Uwe Becker in tagging graffiti art on the Frankfurt Römerberg, following a press conference to introduce the upcoming hip-hop program.  The U.S. Consulate, together with the city of Frankfurt, Frankfurter Jugendring, Stadtbücherei Frankfurt, and Jugendbildungswerk Frankfurt, is co-sponsoring ‘Hip-Hop: Four Elements, One Culture’, a series of hip-hop related cultural, art, dance and music events.  Consul General Powell spoke to press on the importance of a program that reaches out to younger audiences.  She also highlighted the ways in which this program will bring together German and American youth in an effort to bridge cultural boundaries and increase mutual understanding through hip-hop culture.
