"Dancing to Connect" Touches the Hearts and Minds in Stuttgart at the Opening of the American Days
 
On June 26, Consul General Jo Ellen Powell opened the first American Days in Stuttgart at the city's Wilhelma Theater. The 10-day long program features the strong transatlantic relationship in more than 80 events. Consul General Powell introduced the consulate's contribution to the festival's opening: the transatlantic intercultural program Dancing to Connect, a unique arts education program that has brought together teens from the Stuttgart region with American professional dancers of two NY dance companies. At the gala performance in the packed theater, 80 students from five local schools shared the stage with their American mentors presenting works that have been created in workshops held over the previous week.
