'Medvednica' dates from 1142 AD. Since the 16th century, the part of the mountain belonging to the city of Zagreb has been known as Zagrebačka gora (Zagreb's mountain). The highest peak is Sljeme. It is a favorite hiking and picnicking destination for city residents.
