Micro-Scholarships Help Students Hone English Skills

Principal Officer Eric Green met with 25 Mersin high school students who are taking after-school English classes sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Turkish Education Association. The program is being run in seven provinces for a total of 175 students who will have 360 hours of classes over the coming 14 months. The students attend public schools which have limited resources for high-quality English instruction. Green told the students that, just as a person's eyes are a window on the soul, language is the window to understand another society's culture, history and literature.
